Meet the Milanese Sandwich: a crispy fried chicken cutlet, sliced tomatoes, fresh gem lettuce and a silky truffle-lemon aioli, all on our house-baked focaccia. Starting today, February 14, it’s on the menu at every Due’ Cucina location.

In Milan, cotoletta alla milanese (the Milanese cutlet) is a point of local pride: a veal chop, breaded and fried in butter until the crust turns deep gold. Its roots run long. A banquet record from Milan’s Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio in 1134 already lists lumbolos cum panitio, “chops with bread”. Whether the Milanese version came before Vienna’s schnitzel or the other way around is a debate the two cities have never settled.
Our sandwich takes that idea, a thin cutlet with a shattering crust, and makes it something you can eat with one hand. We bread and fry a chicken cutlet in our own kitchen, pair it with cool tomato and crunchy gem lettuce, and finish it with a truffle-lemon aioli: the lemon cuts through the richness, the truffle makes it smell like a trattoria.
As we shared on Instagram, the idea for our focaccia sandwiches comes straight from Chef Filippo’s childhood: “Back home, Chef Filippo and his friends would grab focaccia at the local gastronomy after a game of soccer in the piazza.” (see the post)

That grab-and-go habit is what our Artisan Focaccia Sandwiches are about. The focaccia is baked fresh every day at each location, soft inside with a crisp, olive-oil top, sturdy enough to hold a cutlet without going soggy. The Milanese joins the Caprese, Mediterranea, Mortadella and Porchetta in our focaccia sandwich lineup. See them all on our menu.
The Milanese Sandwich is available at every Due’ Cucina location. Grab it for lunch, after work, or after the game.
Order on the Due’ app or at order.duecucina.com, and earn loyalty points on every order. Feeding a crowd? The Milanese and our other focaccia sandwiches are on our catering menu too.
